Meet the Dutton's
Jack, Dorothy, Jerry and Family

In 1951, inspired by Walt Disney's plans for Disneyland,
Jack Dutton moved the family residence from Fullerton to Anaheim
at Orangethorpe and Raymond Avenue, the site of Dutton's Jungle Gardens,
to share with the public his adopted boy Jerry, the world's most human chimpanzee!

Jerry the chimp, dressed himself in the morning, brushed his own teeth,
entertained garden guests, carried food to tables, watered plants,
fed animals, played with ducks, appeared in many television shows,
ate at the dinner table, and retired to bed at night in his own room
with ceiling high windows facing the jungle gardens.
